    September 6th, 2009 | Micah Mathis

Well this week the long awaited date finally came. On Tuesday September 1st my dad, step-mom, wife, and I made the 6+ hour trek from Eureka, MO to Connersville, IN. Everything went smoothly, and we had a ton of great help on both sides of the move. So now we are officially Indiana residents.

We have a very nice little rental home that a church member helped us secure until our house sells back in Eureka. So this week we have been unpacking boxes, moving furniture, and setting up systems. It is starting to look more and more like a home everyday, still it takes time to truly feel like our home.

Some people say home is where the heart is, but I have never really understood what that means. I don’t know about  you, but many days it seems like my heart is in a different place every hour. It seems my humanity and depravity is constantly competing for the hold on my heart. So I am not sure the human heart alone is a very good measure of anything. On the other hand a heart regenerated by the love and grace of the Father always knows where it’s true home is.

    2 Corinthians 5:6-9

Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord – for we walk by faith, not by sight– we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him.

So as you can see we will never truly be at home here on this earth. We were made for different type of home, a different type of family, a different type of life. We were created for a single purpose, to love and glorify the Father. However because of sin and the fallen nature of this world we are called to fulfill that purpose in this foreign land until one day the purpose will be perfected in us. Then we will be able to truly say “We are home.”

So we are excited about this new chapter of our life, and believe God will continue to be faithful to give us wisdom, peace, and grace to live for Him until the day He grants entry to our true home.

    Where’s your home?

    –Wholly Surrender!
