I was catching up on my RSS feeds today, and came across another great article on COLLIDE Magazine’s Blog.

Daniel made a great find in Schaeffer’s writings. What good questions! There seems to be an ongoing discussion in Christian circles about the balance between working to produce good art, and  working to further the Kingdom suspended from creative measurement. I am not sure my purpose as a musician and artist has to be limited to one side or the other. God is glorified in my creativeness, as it comes from Him in the first place. Also sometimes God uses less than creative means to accomplish His work as well. Now I do believe we should express our creative sides whenever possible in order to be good stewards of the gifts He has given us, but there are also times that simplicity of truth void of artistic expression works miracles as well.

So in the end I would say praise the Lord that we are made in His creative image, and that His gospel is able to prevail regardless of our level of creativeness.
