Mad Music Monday – Big Daddy Weave: What Life Would Be Like
This week’s Mad Music Monday pick is Big Daddy Weave’s newest release: What Life Would Be Like. I have been a big fan of Big Daddy Weave for a while despite their tendency to sing “chew” in place of “you.” Three of their previous albums that I like are Every Time I Breathe, Fields of Grace, and What I Was Made For. Some of my favorite cuts from their earlier albums include Audience of One, Every Time I Breathe, New Every Morning, Everything You Are, and It’s All About You. They also have great covers of Let It Rise, Hold Me Jesus, and Trust and Obey.
The new album What Life Would Be Like keeps pace with their previous releases, but I think Every Time I Breathe might still be my favorite. Their current radio release is the title cut from the project, and asks a great question to universal church. A couple of great worship tracks on the album include We Want the World to Hear and Revive Us Again. The band also includes a nice cover of Another Day in Paradise, and a very John Mayer-ish track titled Right With You. From Here is a beautiful ballad expressing a deceased father’s hopes, dreams, and wishes for his child as he watches over them from heaven. Most of the other tracks keeps with Big Daddy Weave’s eclectic rockstyle.
I would not label What Life Would be Like as one of my favortie albums of 2008, but definately worth owning. You can pick it up at www.independentbands.com for around $11 or on iTunes for $10.
