  • On Jordan’s Stormy Banks

    August 3rd, 2008 | Micah Mathis

This morning in our worship service we sang the song “On Jordan’s Stormy Banks.” It is a great old hymn of heavenly anticipation that goes like this:

On Jordan’s stormy banks I stand,
    And cast a wishful eye
To Canaan’s fair and happy land,
    Where my possessions lie.

I am bound for the promised land.
I am bound for the promised land.
Oh, who will come and go with me?
I am bound for the promised land.

When shall I reach that happy place,
    And be forever blessed?
When shall I see my Father’s face,
    And in His bosom rest?

This evening one of the great spiritual leaders and disciple makers of our church passed away unexpectedly. We will deeply miss him, and his great biblical wisdom. Our only comfort is knowing that he is now in the promised land. He has seen his Father’s face, and is joyously resting in His bosom.

We love you Jim, and look forward to the day when we will join you in Glory. Until then continue glorify the King as you did when you walked among us. Pray for us and the work you helped us start. We will watch over and care for your family.

Father thank you for your mercy, and Jesus’s saving blood so that we and Jim can join You in your great Glory.
